CARING FOR YOUR DEK

Dek Mate closed cell EVA boat flooring is made with ultra-high density non-colour bleed foam with the highest quality 3M adhesive backing and is made to withstand the harshest conditions! Whilst we have produced one of the hardest-wearing products available on the market, it is not invincible. So to get the very best life out of your Dek Mate flooring you should take the proper steps to ensure it has a long life and stays it tip-top condition!

CARE & AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

The following aftercare steps and things to avoid will help you prolong the life of your Dek Mate investment:

  1. Safe Stick Time - Please give your newly applied Dek Mate 3-5 days to adhere to your boat's surface before washing or doing any strenuous movement or walking on. This will allow the 3M adhesive time to completely adhere and cure to your boat surface, ensuring the best stick.

  2. Washing - At no point should your deck come into contact with any solvent or petrochemical-based cleaners or liquids that may damage the adhesive backing or closed cell EVA foam itself. For more stubborn stains you can use colour-safe laundy detergents and a medium/soft scrubbing brush or broom. We recommend using the following cleaning solutions to care for your Dek Mate marine flooring:

    • Wash & Wax - Bowdens, Salty Captain, Meguiar’s etc.

    • Vanish liquid laundry detergent

  3. Pressure Washing - At no point should a narrow beam pressure washer be used and the pressure washer should be held at least 60cm from the surface of the deck at all times, failure to do this can result in damage to the deck and will not be covered under warranty. Whilst pressure washing Dek Mate can be done within safe limits, we strongly suggest you avoid hitting the very edges and corners of the deck to prevent any possible lifting or separating of the glue from the floor of your boat. This is very rare but high-pressure hoses can add extreme pressure in very concentrated areas and cause more susceptible areas to lift over time.

  4. Storage - To help protect and prolong the life of your Dek Mate flooring we advise you to store the boat out of direct sunlight when not in use. This will avoid colour fade, floors becoming harder over long periods of UV exposure and adhesive wear. Also, magnification through glass windscreens or canopies can cause extremely high temperatures, that can cause EVA foams to warp and distort - See next point*.

  5. Light Amplification - Reflection, refraction and magnification are types of 'light amplification' that can occur from shiny surfaces and or through boat windows and windcsrceens and can cause damage to Dek Mate EVA flooring and the 3M adhesive by elevating the temperature beyond its safe operating temperature. Boats with lighter gel coat finishes and larger curved corners are more prone to causing this effect. We strongly suggest storing the boat in a covered environment out of direct sunlight (or with a boat cover on it) to protect your Dek Mate flooring and covered areas. Dek Mate is a highly durable product but we strongly suggest following these care instructions.

Please Note* - Failure to follow the Dek Mate  Care & Aftercare instructions will void all refund and warranty policies.
